"This book will show not only the differences
between Chinese medicine inherited from ancient China and the traditional Korean
medicine which specifically evolved in Korea, but also how the Korean medicine
criticizes and applies various ancient Chinese theories. To my knowledge, this
is the first book about the unique Korean medicine, and I believe that it may
instigate a drastic change in the reader's knowledge of modern Asian medical
theory and acupuncture, an alternative to the much better known Chinese model.
This book is aimed primarily at acupuncturists and doctors who already use
acupuncture therapy. In spite of that, I planned to write the book not as a dry
specialist text, but as an introduction to the Korean medicine. I have tried to
write it in a simple style, based on my practical lectures, so that even novices
without any fundamental knowledge of the theory of Chinese medicine can easily
understand it. Those who wish to pursue the topic more profoundly after reading
this book will be able to read more serious specialist books that I intend to
continue to write. (From Author's Forword) |
